On its own, no. Its been proven to have beneficial properties. Its given to cancer patients to slow down the production of the cancerous cells. It increases appetite in AIDS/HIV sufferers and also those with anorexia.
It kills about as many brain cells as a bang on the head would.
In essence, it's a lot less harmful than legal drugs like Alcohol and Tobacco, which can be seriously addictive. (Weed has no addictive properties. People that may experience "addictions" to weed, would most likely have Psychological dependence on the drug, not Physical.)
In History, there has never been one recorded death due to Marijuana use. In America alone, tobacco kills 438,000 people per year. With Alcohol deaths at 75,000 people per year.
