It slows the messages sent between your brain and your body so therefor it is a depressant. Since though, you can use it to make stuff seem more interesting and fun it can be used to stimulate you and motivate you if used properly but from my understanding it does make you lethargic and slows you down. I like weed but I just got caught with 46 dope plants and just got outta prison for my first time I'm only 17. I can't smoke weed now I'm on supervision for a year and I feel a lot more active now that I am not allowed to smoke the beautiful herb that I thought aided my life so much. I like to think that for the years that I have smoked it, my mind fought against the effects that it has on my learning (like weight training for my mind) so after smoking weed everyday since I was 14 (Every day, hardcore like I was addicted to coke) I have found that since my mind fought against the effects that it has on learning, memory etc it has made my mind stronger now that I don't smoke it if you know what I mean. But I do believe that it has done some irreversible effects to my mind, I am not as good as spelling now. I believe it increased the potential of me using my right brain.
Look up between the differences of right and left brain

All three.
Cannabis is both a depressant and a euphoric with mild hallucinogenic properties.
Cannabis actually has all three traits. At different points of the trip it is a stimulant then a depressant. Through the whole experience it is a psychedelic (or hallucinogen but that is an inaccurate/misleading term)

Betaphenethylamine is a fictional halucinogen and stimulant.
