from first hand experience in both, crack is not physically addictive like say heroin. You may want to and like doing it, but it wont have you throwing up, crawling out of skin, stealing money, etc etc like heroin addiction. I was a heroin addict then got clean and startd doing crack occasionally to ease the boredom and depression. It was fun and I certainly looked forward to our sessions but if something fell through i wasnt scared to death and would on with my life. Basically any other plans or issues could get me to not to do crack, I just did it when i was bored.

∙ 14y agoCrack is just a diluted, easier-to-smoke form of cocaine. While cocaine and crack are not physically addictive (meaning, there are no physical withdrawal symptoms, like there are from opiates or alcohol), it is extremely chemically addictive (meaning, it makes your brain crave more of it like crazy).

∙ 12y agoCocaine is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE, regardless of the form! Beer or whisky? How fast do you want to get intoxicated... similar situation. Crack is more intense but lasts just a short time, while insufflated cocaine takes a bit longer to work as it must be absorbed through the sinus tissue and oral mucosa and digested in the stomach.
Were this to be a legal prescription drug (no reason for it to be), it would be in a similar class as an amphetamine I would imagine, a Schedule II narcotic, indicating the potential for abuse and addiction are very high.
Ask an addict, and they will tell you....... the best way to not become addicted to cocaine, or any substance for that matter, is to never try it, especially if you have a family or personal history of addictive behaviors.
I am not sure why this question is being asked, but you will get a lot of information by attending a Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meeting. Meetings are everywhere. You just show up, sit down, and don't have to do anything else but sit there if that's all you want to do. You'll know in a meeting of 2 if you are an addict.

∙ 12y agoYes. Any first time use of anything can be addicting. If using the drug feels good you might want to try it again just to feel good again and this leads to continuing using the drug unless you have very strong willpower to stop yourself from using the drug again.
