If it is non-toxic, I don't think so. Small children tend to eat all sorts of things and there's probly a ton of healthy adults out there that have eaten much worse than non-toxic chalk. If you're worried, though, contact your local poison control center.
Not too much, but it can depend. Ultimately, chalk is a rock. A very soft rock. But now, companies do not use real rock. They use artificial materials. It may or may not be life threatening, but I suggest whoever ate chalk should rest, not eat anything for a bit, go to the bathroom constantly, and call your doctor for help.
It can be because some sidewalk chalk contains lead.
Most billiards chalk is not toxic, but it has no nutritional value either. It is essentially made of the same material fine sandpaper is made from.
It will if you develop a bowel obstruction. Quit eating chalk and see your doctor to discuss this behavior. :chalk is CaCO3 in your stomach it will release CO2 (burp) and the rest will leave your body in the conventional way. CaCO3 (chalk) +2 HCl (stomach acid) -->CO2 (gas) + CaCl2 + H2O. Nothing to cause fever.[[User:Ysorek|Ysorek]] 22:28, 31 Aug 2007 (UTC)
The potato is a member of the deadly nightshade family, and eating uncooked potatoes can be toxic, especially if one has an allergy to nightshades.
Most of the chalk available in the US is certainly manufactured to be non-toxic and in some cases even hypo-allergenic. The liability is too great for the producer not to insure that it is safe to be around children.
Yes, toxic waste is classed as toxic (dangerous to the environment).

If it is only a one time occurrence, don't worry chalk is not toxic. It will have antacid effects in the stomach, that is about it. If the child does it frequently (especially if they are also eating other nonfood items) they may have a psychiatric disorder called Pica (or another overriding psychiatric disorder). Proper diagnosis requires a psychiatrist to evaluate the child.
Road salt (if is sodium chloride) is not toxic.
Not toxic, but it may be dangerous.
