An etchant is an acid that is used in etching. The chemical composition varies with the item to be etched but all are acid based.
Hi, Flourine is the element. When combined with hydrogen to form hydrogen fluoride, and the dissolved in water to form hydrofluoric acid. As hydofluoric acid, it will etch glass. Hydofluoric acid has a single hydrogen atom and one fluorine atom, physicaly its like hydrochloric acid, a clear liquid. The formula for hydroflouric acid is HF. Search Wiki for "hydrofluoric acid" to get more detail. Hope this helps, Mike
Hydrofluoric acid desolves glass because of its high reactivity towrds the glass. Because of this reason, it is usually stored in plastic containers.
no as antacids are basic salts which neutralizes the acid in stomach.
Hydrofluoric Acid is used in Medicines, such as Prozac. It is also used in diverse materials such as Teflon (PTFE). Hydrofluoric Acid is a highly corrosive acid that can even dissolve glass.
HF or Hydroflouric Acid
It is a physical change caused by chemicals. Chemical changes are phyiscal changes.
HF, Hydrofluoric acid.
This is a chemical reaction (dito change).
Does anyone know
Hydrofluoric acid is a solution of hydrogen and fluoride mixed with water. Its chemical formula is HF. It is a chemical compound and considered a weak acid but can be heavily corrosive.

You can get HF from chemical stores such as Sigma Aldrich, but if you don't know about the dangers of HF I would highly recommend trying something else.
Hexafluorosilicic acid. Though it is safer to use glass etching cream, which is used by hobbyists, as it is generally easier to use than acid. The cream is available from art supply shops.
Things found in etching creams: Barium Sulfate, Sulfuric Acid, Sodium Bifluoride, and Ammonium hydrogen difluoride. Hydrofluoric acid is the main ingredient that will etch glass. Overall, the cream is a diluted form of hydrofluoric acid. It's not nearly as dangerous as pure hydrofluoric acid but still, be very cautious when using it.
