American Accrediting Association of Theological Institutions was created in 1983.
There are two accrediting agencies for Bible colleges that are recognized as legitimate by the U.S. government: The Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) and The Transnational Association for Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS). No, Penn Foster College is not approved by NCAA, but it is accredited by Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). But NCAA is not the only well-known accrediting agency. DETC is a nationally recognized accrediting agency as well.
