Ice hockey is generally faster because you can build up a lot more momentum as you travel across the playing surface. That forces players to make choices at a quicker rate. Beyond cricket and hockey, the fastest team sport is probably "hurling," a sport popular in Ireland. Hurling is a lot like lacrosse and field hockey. Check out blogs like "Hurley to Rise" for more information.
You can use girls lacrosse gloves as field hockey gloves, they are actually great to be used for outdoor field hockey. In indoor field hockey I would not recommend using them though, because they do not provide enough padding. In indoor you have to get low to the point where your hand is almost on the ground, leaving it exposed, also the ball moves much faster so getting hit does hurt more, so you want well padded gloves for indoor. There are indoor field hockey gloves made, normally they are made for the left hand only but you may want to get another one to protect the right hand as well.
Netball is a non-contact generally indoor sport similar to, and derived from, basketball. It is usually known as a women's sport. It was originally known in its country of origin, the United States, as "women's basketball". Invented in 1895 by Clara Gregory Baer, a pioneer in women's sport, netball is now the pre-eminent women's team sport (both as a spectator and participant sport) in Australia and New Zealand and is popular in the West Indies, Sri Lanka, and the United Kingdom. Over 20 million people play netball in more than 70 countries. Source: Wikipedia
