food coloring CAN be used to dye clothes of fibres (such as wool yarn) however, there are factors to consider. the clothing should be a natural source fibre (such as cotton or wool) because the dye will not stick to an artificial fibre. also, consider that any food coloring would need to be in LARGE quantities in order to dye the object.
lastly, i don't believe food coloring would produce a color-fast dye, so it would most likely fade with time and sunshine.
