The grizzly bear is endangered in part of its range. It is not in danger of being completely wiped out.

The IUCN lists the Grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) as 'Least Concern'. The Mexican Grizzly (Ursus arctos nelsoni) is now extinct.
