What are some terms that weather men use?

high pressure,low pressure,cold front,warm front,warm air mass,cold air mass

What symbols represent a cold front Warm front Low pressure High pressure?

Cold is icicle-like triangles on a line, Warm is half circles on a line, Stationary fronts are both.

Pressure differences between warm and cold air masses cause what?

Pressure differences between warm and cold air masses cause fronts or high/low pressure systems. A warm front is when a warm, moist air mass slides up and over a cold air mass, and a cold front is the opposite.

What is the zone where high pressure areas and low pressure areas meet?

The zone is called a front. There are a few types of fronts. They are: cold front, warm front, occluded front & stationary front.

What will you get when a high pressure front moves in over land?

In the summertime: Fair and warm weather. In the wintertime: Fair and cold weather.

Why are fronts important?

There are cold and warm weather fronts. On a weather map they are defined by sudden changes in the ambient temperature. For example, in front of a cold front, which typically travels west to east, we find the temperature over the area in front will be several degrees warmer than behind that cold front. Conversely, if it's a warm front, the air in front will be several degree colder than behind that warm front. Typically the cold fronts are created by low pressure areas and warm fronts by high pressure areas. As the names imply, low pressure areas have atmospheric pressures lower than the surrounding areas. And high pressure areas have atm pressures that are higher than the surrounding areas.

When cold air moves into an area the atmospheric pressure is?

When cold air moves into an area, the atmospheric pressure is high because cold air is denser than warm air. When a cold front moves through an area, the pressure always rises.

Does cold air have high or low pressure?

Cold air has a high pressure because it is heavier than warm air.

What happens to an area's temperature when a cold front passes?

The pressure is always lowest at the frontal boundary, whether warm or cold. ______________________________________________________________________ The pressure would decrease since warm fronts are found at the front of low pressure systems. Pressure can also decrease at the warm and cold frontal boundaries just like the previous answer states, but can only increase when the cold front passes.

Cold and warm front meet and cold front pushes wram front up and away is what type of front?

It is called a lower pressure front.

What is front meteorology?

In meteorology, a front is a boundary between two air masses, which can't mix each other due to their properties like their temperature, their pressure and their relative humidity. A front is associated with a low pressure system, a system where the atmospheric pressure is lower than the surrounding areas. There are several types of fronts, which have different properties in the cloud and precipitation formation such as the warm fronts, the cold fronts, the stationary fronts, the occluded fronts and some others. A warm front is a type of meteorological front where the warm air mass comes up on the cold air mass. The warm, light and dilated air goes over the cold, heavy and dense air. The warm front is associated with covered weather and sometimes rainy, usually with high clouds such as cirrus which will become nimbostratus or altostratus. A warm front is associated with warm, cloudy weather (sometimes moderated rainy) and with an atmospheric pressure decreasing progressively. A cold front is a type of meteorological front where the cold air mass comes down under the warm air mass. The cold, heavy and dense air goes under the warm, light and dilated air. The cold front is generally associated with cirrocumulus and altocumulus and the clouds are rarely high in the sky. Behing a cold front, there is clear skies and sunny weather because there is usually a high pressure system behind a cold front. But clear skies also follow warm fronts. Cold fronts tend to move faster than warm fronts because the cold air is denser than the warm air and is harder to move. Globally, all the fronts are associated by a change in the weather, which is more brutal in cold fronts than in warm fronts.

What are the 4 types of weather fronts?

The four types of fronts change the weather on Earth. A warm front brings warm, humid air and a cold front brings dry, cool air. A stationary front does not move and have winds parallel to the front. An occluded front occurs when cold air overtakes warm air.
