It's a common fairy tale, so to say, that the world will end in 2012. As far as science goes, they believe that certain astronomic issues will arise on the date of December 21, 2012. Culturally, the Mayan calendar ends on this date as well. Religiously, there says nothing of a date, but instead of a tragic event to happen (rapture)
Logically, there's nothing to say that the world will end in 2012 other than just another crisis. Be careful what you hear ;)
