It depends on what you believe. With most people seeking good luck or maintaining it, they just don't want to risk it. Personally, I take my Christmas tree down on New Year's Day.
Some people just like to look of the tree in all its splendor of colors and hate to take it down.
If, for some reason, you will be away, and your tree is extremely dry and a fire risk, just take it down. It really doesn't make much difference.
Happy New Year!

Some believe that if you leave the Christmas tree up into new years, you are carrying any bad luck from the previous year, forward into the new year. However, I have done it both ways, and have not noticed any difference. I think if you believe in anything strong enough, you will create it just by believing, so do it your own way and believe it will bring you good luck in the New year.
Its tradition that Christmas trees are down around the feast of the epiphany which is the 6th January. Some people say its bad luck but just because some people say its bad luck doesn't make it so.
No of course it isn't: the tradition is don't keep it up until the 6th January, but that isn't really true either. I do both of these things and nothing really bad has ever happened to me - nothing compared to people who don't do these things.
No, it is actually a good thing to put your tree up early to show people that you have Christmas spirit.

Depending on one's culture. Some people believe the Jesus's birth was celebrated for 14 days. So the tree stay up that much longer after Christmas.

Luck does not come into it. That is just superstition. Christmas decorations should not come down until after Christmas is over. So that means you should take them down on the 7th of January.
