Should you glue down or float engineered flooring?

Glue is best.. 40 years at the trade... I like nails & glue

How do you decide between engineered hardwood floors and natural hardwood floors?

If we can nail it down we use (prefinished) hardwood. If we have to glue it down (on slab) we use engineered. You can certainly use engineered in any application whether nail down, glue down, or even floating. There really aren't many compelling reasons to use solid anymore beyond prestige and the fact that is has zero chemical emissions. Engineered can be refinished just like solid, as long as the top veneer is think enough. If you plan to be in your house long enough to refinish the floor, use an engineered with a 3mm+ top veneer.

Can you glue down engineered click lock floor?

No it's impossibleEdit: I would have to disagree with this answer. Typically, you would not glue click lock hardwood floors, but if the floor is level and even you could both click it and glue it. It's not necessary, but you could do it.ANS 3 - If the click-lock flooring is laid properly it should be on thin wavy foam sheet. -It's supposed to 'float' ! If this is left out and the laminate is glued to sub floor, chances are good that it will start to separate in much used areas. -NOT a good idea to glue it

What are the advantages and disadvantages between engineered wood flooring versus the alternative?

According to my research the difference between engineered wood and laying hard wood down is the difficulty. Laying down hard wood is harder than engineered wood.

Can you glue down brazilian oak flooring?

The ability to glue down a floor is not dependent on the species of wood. Rather, it depends on the construction of the wood and the condition of the subfloor. If your wood is solid, you should nail it and not glue it, regardless of species. If it's engineered hardwood and if your surface is clear smooth then you can glue it. Bamboo is the one exception. Technically, the solid bamboo is considered solid, but it is constructed like an engineered product, so can glue solid bamboo down (you can also nail it into plywood, as well as float it). Also, you usually see in the box, the manufacturer's recommendation on how you can install, if it is a prefinished product.

Does the floor exert an upward force against your feet?

no gravity prett much does the trick, forcing you down to the floor and since I never saw a floor float up when a load was taken off, I will stick with no & gravity

How do you float in mid-air?

There are places you can go and pay for sessions in a room where the floor is undustrial fans. When you lie down you float in mid-air. It's very expensive though - I saw on television.

How does an elevator be an example of weightlessness?

An elevator can drop faster than the force of gravity. That is more than 32 feet per second squared. Push off the floor and float back down. Some express elevators from the 90th floor can scream on down safely.

Is it better to glue or nail down a wooden floor over terrazo?

If the wooden floor is going directly onto terrazo there is no way to nail it.

Can you glue down a click lock bamboo floor?

You can, but it's not a good idea. Click-lock flooring is supposed to 'float' on a thin foam pad and thus be able to move as it contracts and expands. When you glue it down it can't move and you may soon find it separating in the most used parts.

Is hand scraping across the grain of the wood floor better looking than handscraping with the grain of the floor?

No. Hand scraping down the length will give both a better look and better service & finish over time.
