The above statement "... the more you have the smarter you are" is patently false. It is widely accepted in the eduational community that it is not the quantity of homework that matters, but the quality. Less of high-quality homework is superior to more of low-quality homework; a moderate amount of high-quality homework is best of all. In other words, what's important is that homework helps a students to achieve their learning goals, and the learning goals of teachers and parents and the community. Classwork and homework ought to meet the standards of schoolwork quality something like the following: (1) The work helps a student learn things that are important for a successful and enjoyable future. (2) The work helps students learn new knowledge that they didn't have. (3) The work helps students retain knowledge that they already have been introduced to. (4) The work helps students develop new skills that they didn't have. (5) The work helps students become more proficient at skills that they already have started to develop. However, even the best homework may not be of benefit if (a) the student doesn't accept the value of doing it, and/or (b) the home environment is not conducive to successfully completing it.
Neither - kids should have just the right amount of homework to practice and help them learn, but not so much that they are exhausted from doing it.
No, they do not do better, because they get less education by not having stuff to do at home.
Homework is practice for the material - the more you practice, the better you get and the better grade you'll have
If your current homework takes an hour - more homework would take more than an hour. If your current homework takes 5 minutes - more homework might take less than an hour. It depends on current homework work load.
Of course it does! It also gives you more practice for what you learned so you make better grades. Even grown ups have homework, so you might as well just accept it.
No, because they also have homework. It wouldn't make any sense for them to like you less because you have more homework. They should understand this, this is a part of a studen'ts life. Really I don't think they like you any less because you have more homework. Don't worry about it.
Of course there is. The more you practice what you're learning, the better you know it and the better your grades will be. Homework is practice to help you learn better.
Homework makes students the opposite - it helps them learn to be more responsible and get better grades.
Homework is practice to help you learn the material - if you do it properly, you learn more and make better grades
Choosing to study for an exam instead of going out with friends involves the trade-off of sacrificing social time for academic success. Deciding to buy a cheaper, lower-quality product to save money is a trade-off between cost and quality. Opting for a shorter route to work may mean sacrificing a scenic drive for a quicker arrival time, illustrating the trade-off between convenience and enjoyment.
In my opinion studying is much more effective. Homework helps you to better understand the work from class. Some subjects like math and science require practice in order for you to become really good at them, so homework is more important than "studying." Studying only works if you understand what you are studying, which is where homework can help.
It is if you want to learn more, make better grades, and not flunk out of school!
Yes, you get so much more freedom but you also have more responsibility but it's worth it. You also get so much less homework and to me that is the best thing ever I absolutely love it! :)
