I don't know about causing cancer.

However helium is an inert gas which means unless it's in an specific situation, it's harmless. Highly doubted that it will cause cancer.

And no, it won't cause death either. :)

It can kill. On 3rd June 2 students died in a giant helium balloon. Breathing in pure helium washes out oxygen , in other words, each breath of helium you take sucks more oxygen out of your system. You don't have to worry too much about fatal asphixiation if your sucking it from a balloon, at worst you will get light headed and then pass out, at which point you will stop breathing helium and your body's oxygen levels will return to normal. But then again, you may pass out, fall over, hit your head and kill yourself.

A:Yes. Inhaling small amounts of Helium will not damage your lungs in any way; there is Helium in the very air that you breathe. Inhaling larger amounts of Helium will temporarily deprive your lungs of Oxygen, causing lightheadedness and possibly fainting. Prolonged exposure to Helium without adequate Oxygen will cause asphyxiation and death.

Chemically, helium is an inert gas and cannot kill you if inhale a small amount (from a party balloon, for instance). However, inhaling it in large amounts can potentially be fatal as it replaces the oxygen in your body. As with anything, exercise caution and don't go overboard.

A:A little from a balloon is probably safe enough, but taking a full deep breathe of helium can kill you.

Your lungs have an important job to do, they keep bringing large quantities of oxygen close to large quantities of your blood, so that the oxygen can dissolve in the blood and keep you alive. If you fill your lungs with helium and keep it there for too long, the lungs can't do their job, because no oxygen can get in. That's when you discover how important the job was, all the time when you didn't even know it was going on, and that's the thought that flashes through your mind as you lose consciousness and fall down, due to suffocation.

it is completely safe for you to breath in

no

Alternate:

Yes, it can be dangerous. When you do it you may not realize right away that you are depriving your brain of oxygen. It is not necessarily dangerous for a brief moment, but it is potentially dangerous.

Is inhaling helium out of 2 balloons ok?

No, you can die from inhaling to much helium.

Can inhaling helium hurt you?

Yes and no. Helium by itself is not toxic, however, it displaces the oxygen in the air which can cause suffocation and oxygen deprivation to the brain.

How many times do you breathe in helium to get cancer?

Helium doesn't cause cancer, so from that perspective it doesn't matter.

What might cause lung cancer?

Some causes of lung cancer are smoking, or inhaling harmful chemicals such as radon or asbestos.

If you inhale helium do you get sick?

There aren't any records that show that inhaling helium gets you sick.

Is it bad to do the helium challenge?

A little helium isn't harmful, but inhaling an entire balloon-full can block oxygen to your brain, which might cause you to pass out. There has been at least one death from breathing helium from a pressurized tank instead of a balloon, too.

What are the toxicity of helium?

HELIUM is not toxic it is lighter than air.

Can you die from inhaling helium?

Only if you inhale too much. Your lungs can't function without oxygen, and helium is devoid of it. Inhaling a little has no long term adverse effects so long as you blow it out.

Can inhaling kerosene cause cancer?

Kerosene= gasoline. YES!!!! Just go to a gas station. They have a sign on the gas pump.

Is helium good for the environment?

Firstly, helium is NON- TOXIC. Helium is useful to mankind as it is used in cryogenics, deep-sea breathing systems, blowing up balloons, providing the lightweight in airships etc. Breathing in a small amount of helium will temporarily increase the pitch of your voice (no harm), however, excessive inhaling of helium is dangerous as it may cause death by asphyxiation within minutes!

Does inhaling helium kills brain cells?

Not immediately. Helium has many negative effects on the brain. Bubbles of helium can travel to the arteries that lead to your brain. Inhaling the gas won't kill brain cells on its own, but sucking it in can cause oxygen deprivation, which can lead to your precious brain cells slowly dying.

Can inhaling helium give you a headache?

Yes, the helium doesn't let oxygen get through to your brain and can definitly make you feel light headed an dizzy.
