As you talk of a Holden Astra,I assume you are in Aus?As no one has answered your query,I'll have a go and if I'm wrong,some Aus.answerer will correct me.Pod filter?This I think refers to what we call a cone type air filter on a inlet pipe kit.Certainly not illegal in UK but would be wise to notify insurers due to the percieved performance increase. I personally don't rate these things as you mostly lose the ability to mix cold and warm air to the optimum inlet temperature.When you open the bonnet,it "looks" fast and on the road it "sounds"fast due to increased inlet noise.A standard car with no other mods does not show much improvement against the stopwatch.Mostly bought by "chavs"in the UK.A far better mod is to buy a K&N filter that will fit in the original airbox,these will improve performance and economy depending how you drive.You keep the air mixing facility and the filter lasts forever with routine cleaning and reoiling.
