There is a normal variation called "inverted nipples". When this happens, the nipple opening (the part you're worried about) is normally flush or even "dimpled" in to the aureole. When the nipple becomes aroused, it will show through because the aureole will contract. Women who have this variation are perfectly normal and can breast feed children with no problems. It just doesn't look "normal."

However, if you previously had non-inverted nipples, developing them is a potential cancer symptom, so you should get yourself checked out immediately.
