You can only speak from your perspective, not for the other person and not for the police. You may have viewed it as a 'minor discussion' while the other person(s) felt that calling for assistance from the police was warranted.
Regardless of what occurred, it's in your best interest to avoid all contact with the other party and to not get involved in any threatening or violent actions from now on.
