No, MDMA and MDA are not similar to opiates at all and will not break down in the human body to anything resembling an opiate, thus they will not test positive for opiates. However, they can test positive for amphetamines. MDMA stands for methylenedioxymethamphetamine and MDA stands for Methylenedioxyamphetamine...Go figure... And further complicating the matter, Extacy pills are nortoriously impure, so it is possible that what you thought contained MDMA or MDA had other stuff in it, possible an opiate or another testable drug.

∙ 10y agoMDMA on its own is not very safe, but there are no known interactions between it and true opiates. Synthetic opiate-like painkillers like Tramadol are a different story, however - a dangerous condition called Serotonin Syndrome may result.
Also if you accidentally OD on either or both of them, or get a bad batch of MDMA, being on the two at the same time will make it more complicated for a hospital to diagnose and treat the problem.
