Is it okay to leave a guinea pig byhimself?

As long as your pet has plenty of fresh food and water they can be alone for a few days. This may affect their behavior because they are social animals. They will do fine though if left alone.

Guinea pigs cannot be left alone for more than one day, and leaving one alone for a week or so can be deadly because of an extreamly high risk of dehydration, water contamination, heat sickness/hypothermia, kidney stones (very painful and bloody), and many others.

If you only have one guinea pig then that will make him very lonely. Especially if you're are going away for quite a while he will feel very depressed and sad. If you think that the way he is acting now is unusual you should take him to a vet and/or get another guinea pig for him to play with while you're a away.

It is preferred to change food and water everyday, but if it is occasional, I guess it is O.K.
