Both my PA and a pharmacist confirmed that you CAN take Tylenol pm after surgery as a sleep aid, as long as its worked in as part of your regular Tylenol dosage. ie...I can take 2 500mg ES Tylenol for pain management 4 times in a 24 hour period. I will be replacing one of those doses with 2 500mg ES Tylenol PM. Don't exceed your maximum dosage of ANY Tylenol product prescribed by your doctor/surgeon.

I had tonsillectomy late last year and highly recommend taking what the doctor prescribes for post-op pain relief. I'm sure it would be fine to take a Tylenol pm if what the doctor gives is too strong but I definitely wouldn't take them together.
