My workmate & I wondered about this a few days ago. I chewed a piece of uncooked skin of a fully ripe banana and found the taste to be fairly bitter. It is fibrous. The mouth is left feeling dry. The overall taste is not pleasant. I did not want to eat more of it. I did not swallow it. I tried steaming some for 4 minutes. The fibrous element almost disappeared. The taste did not improve, however it smelt good. Strong smell of banana icecream. I decide not to swallow it.

∙ 14y agoBannana skins are only poisonous if you eat a large quantity. They are not posisonous once they have been dried out. People will often dry out bannana skins to try and smoke them. This is often hyped up and whilst a small high can be acheived over a length of time the results are always dissapointing! :/
