Software piracy has been around since as long as there were digital computers. I see only two possible ways to eliminate software piracy.
1. Get rid of all computers.
2. Make all software free, thus making it "unpiratable." You can't possibly steal something that's free for the taking.
Number 1 is obviously never going to happen: people, businesses, and governments rely on computers for entertainment, livelihood, and efficient management. Number 2 has been attempted, and is gaining increasing popularity. Browsers like Firefox, audio editors like Audacity, and entire operating systems like Linux, are all free, both in cost and what you are permitted to do with them.
