If the distributor shaft has side to side play it is probably worn out. If the shaft has no play just replace the cap and rotor.
Do you need to replace both rotors or can you replace only the one that looks bad?
If one rotor is in need of replacement, the other is sure to need it soon afterwards. I always replace such things in pair as a preventative maintenance issue.

Replacing the stator is the next part to replace. Other than that the only other part to replace is the rotor which is less likely to fail because it only has magnets no wires. It is possible for the rotor to go bad from screws coming loose that hold the stator on. Once you get to the stator in your repair you can easily tell if the rotor has any problems, it will be plainly visable

Only if the pads are worn so badly that they have cut a deep groove in the rotor. Small grooves are fine, rotors just need to be turned (shaved) to make them smooth again.

Check for a worn or warped break rotor on the front driver side. You may need to replace the break pads and rotor.

Remove the wheel then the caliper then the rotor/ If the rotor is rusted to the hub, you may need to spray some Liquid Wrench on the hub. I've seen them where the only way to get them off is to hammer hard from behind, OK if you plan to replace them anyway, but supposedly bad for the wheel bearing.

There is two screews that hold the cap on ,remove them. Then just pull the rotor up and off. It will only go on 1 way. Transfur wires to new cap while keeping them in order.

Generally they are only replaced when needed, but since they are cheap, if you replace a rotor it should also get new ones or if you replace 1 that is bad, you should also do the other on same rotor (usually 2 on each)

there should be 2 bolts which hold the brake caliper on the rotor u will need to remove them to remove the caliper then just use a screwdriver to pop the pads off the caliper u will also need a C clamp to compress the piston back in the caliper or u will not be able the replace the caliper on the rotor
