Best Answer

no lava is a liquid that when cooled forms extrusive igneous rock

Metamorphic rock is something that has been "metamorphosed" usually by being shoved down into the high temperatures and pressures inside the earth by tectonic plate movement. Sandstone (soft) can become granite (hard) in this way.

Lava does not directly turn into metamorphic rock. Lava turns into igneous rock, which can become sedimentary rock. Either igneous or sedimentary rock can turn into metamorphic rock when lava gets into a crack. The pressure and heated fluids alter the surrounding rock, turning it into metamorphic rock.

No. Lava is magma that has reached the surface. It isn't even technically a rock until it has cooled, and when it does, it is extrusive igneous rock.

No. Igneous rocks are formed from cooled lava or magma. Metamorphic rocks are formed from the alteration of existing sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic rock.
