While Jerry Van Dyke ( brother of Dick Van Dyke) and I were making an appearance on a special "Merv Griffin Show" at Cesar's Palace in Las Vegas in the 70s, Jerry said something like, "I think we're related. Let me make a call." He called his manager or a relative. Minutes later he said to me, "I guess we are related! Seems that my father and your grandfather were brothers or cousins!" To which I said, "Great; now you tell me!" To the best of my knowledge, this is true.
As far as anyone knows, they arent. Just because they have the same last name doesn't mean they are related.
