Actually, according to many studies, scientists cannot prove or disprove if marijuana is harmful for an unborn baby. Studies on this subject were very biased and/or inconclusive. The studies all gave varied answers. In fact, many studies actually show that children who had been exposed to marijuana while still in the fetus actually scored higher on their IQ tests than those children who were not exposed to marijuana. The main point is - science cannot conclude whether marijuana is actually harmful or not for a baby still in the womb.

Also, the person who gave the above answer should learn to do her research and also learn to spell. No one is going to take your answer seriously if you cannot spell the word "pregnant," let alone correctly spell the words "when" and "height."

Marijuana is completely safe for a pregnant woman. As i have read there are no non side effects of marijuana. Your baby will be safe if you smoke marijuana while pregnant because it actually intensifies your brain so more than likely it will intensify your babys intelligence. So hey your baby might come out a genius.

I've smoked weed every single day i was pregnant, and in the end found out it doesn't harm the child at all. My daughter is now two and is 2 years smarter than what her average age is supposed to be. I took her to get her smarts checked out and they say she's able to start preschool already. You hear people say its bad because the law makes it sound bad. People smoke cigs while pregnant and you hear less complaining about that, when in all actuality Cigarettes are 100 times worse for you to smoke while pregnant. Think about it...Pot is natural, how bad can it honestly be for you?!
um yeah. smoking anything while pregnant can harm your baby. Stunt growth, cause brain problems...it really depends on what you're smoking and if it's laced with anything.
Everything you put into your body while pregnant is carried by your bloodstream into the placenta to nourish the fetus. Since marijuana when smoked produces THC, this will effect the child in the womb.

Its all about the amount, smoking in excess is obviously wrong, but you can smoke once or twice, just a little, with no real harm to the child. I have friends who have smoked, to including my wife, and my child and their kids are smart and healthy. My son was walking before a year old. My wife was suffering with high blood pressure and preeclampsia and when she was around 7 months along she took 1 hit off a bong, and the preeclampsia and blood pressure issues stopped for the rest of her term. My sons heart rate in the womb was also very high until my wife smoked that one time, then it returned to normal. Don't ask me why just personal experience talking here.

The last answer was deadwrong. Smoking pot while pregnant is obviously bad, and no, studies do not show that it's good for the baby. Stay clear from all the big three, alcohol, tobacco AND marijuana while pregnant. Fact is, studies are inconclusive, you can Google a little bit about it, but there is also a moral argument to be made in this matter. You are no longer affecting only yourself with the pot so do you have the right to make this decision for another human being when it might be linked to something as serious as birthdefects?

There are so few long term studies done on Marijuana and pregnancy and only some studies done on rats (not good.) Studies such as the one given above are so space (an extremely small group of women tested) that is not long term enough to say one way or the other if Marijuana is harmful to the fetus. Some mothers use a couple of drags off of Marijuana when they are first pregnant and it helps against nausea. As we already know Marijuana does do something to the neurotransmitters of the brain (eventually) so we are talking about an 8 lb. or less (first born) here.

Anyone who is pregnant deserves to give that baby the best nutritional value they can and since the facts aren't fully in on Marijuana why take the chance. It's like saying 1 - 4 glasses of alcohol or 5 cigarettes per day won't hurt the baby.

Something else Marijuana users don't think of often enough (yet they know) is that Marijuana can have other drugs in it when bought. Just because you buy Marijuana from the same dealer doesn't mean they know what's in it either.

Why risk it? It simply isn't worth it. If a pregnant woman feels very nauseated then this is a factor they can discuss with their physician. Marijuana has been successful for morning sickness and also to help those with nausea going through Chemo or Radiation treatments for cancer.
