It is difficult or impossible to overdose on marijuana. Alcohol overdose can lead to death.

Everyone assumes when comparing alcohol and pot that the only reason for alcohol use is to get intoxicated or drunk. Given, if intoxication were the only use and effect of alcohol, intoxication on alcohol is about the same as getting high. True, alcohol poisoning is deadly. Both can lead to psychological or emotional dependence. The difference between USING alcohol and USING pot, is that alcohol can be used without altering your state of mind. It can be used without getting intoxicated. Pot cannot. How many people have ever smoked pot without the intention of getting intoxicated and high? How many have smoked it without ending up getting intoxicated and high? ZERO, because there is no other reason to smoke it. By contrast one or two beers, or glasses of wine, or even liquor will not get most people drunk, especially when consumed sitting down to a meal.*
*This is not entirely true. I know plenty of people who smoke just a little bit after work or a stressful day to chill out JUST like how people have a drink or two after work. And smoking a small amount has about the same psychological effect as drinking a little bit of alcohol - just a different type of effect.
If your goal is to be intoxicated, pick you poison. If you don't care to be intoxicated, or want top be in control of whether you end up intoxicated, stay away from smoking pot.
