the milk isn't really harmful, but there are certain medicines that won't work very well (or at all) if taken with milk. In most of the ones where milk causes issues, it is usually the calcium ions (positively charged metallic ions) that cause the problems. they stop the body from being able to absorb some kinds of medicines. I know one kind of antibiotics that are affected by milk are the 'tetracycline' family of antibiotics.
