Best Answer

yes! it's a noble gas. All the noble gases (or group 8 elements) are stable, thus the 'Noble' part.

He - Helium (2)

Ne - Neon (10)

Ar - Argon (18)

Kr - Krypton (36)

Xe - Xenon (54)

Rn - Radon (86)

also see:

for a more detailed explanation of why they are stable, see below, from "Why are the noble gases inert?".

Noble gases are inert for a simple reason - Their outer electron shells are already full. Generally, the more empty the outer electron shell, the more reactive the element.

Helium has two(2) electrons, and is thus full, all the other noble elements has eight(8) electrons in it's outer electron shell, so they are also full.

*And for everyone's sake, krypton is not green, but colorless, and forms white crystals

when solid.

Neon is soluble in water. Neon is a gas that is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. After helium, neon is the second lightest noble gas.
