No. Nitrous oxide is the "dead body" of what could have been an ozone molecule, if water vapor had not gotten to the excited and unstable nitrogen and oxygen "free radical" first. The main threat is water vapor in that case.

What molecule do greenhouses produce?

There are five main gases produced by greenhouses: water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone.

What are the four greenhouse gases?

The four main greenhouse gases are ozone, carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. These gases are said to responsible for the world wide climate change taking place now.

What gasses make the hole in the ozone layer?

Gases such as CFCs, nitrous oxide, hydroxl, chlorine, and bromine are the main "hole" creators. These are produced naturally, in industrial applications, and by some consumer products. Carbon dioxide does not deplete the ozone. It does increase the green house effect but has a negligible effect on ozone depletion.

Chemical formula of laughing gas?

Chemical name of the laughing gas is Nitrous Oxide and chemical formula is N2O. There are two methods to produce Nitrous Oxide in large scale. There are two main industrial processes to manufacture Nitrous Oxide. <! 1. Thermal Cracking of Ammonium Nitrate; NH4NO3 à N2O + 2 H2O 2. 2. Oxidation of Ammonia ; 2 NH4 + 2 O2 à N2O + 3 H2O

What is the substance causing the greenhouse effect?

There are several substances that cause the greenhouse effect and they are called greenhouse gases. The main greenhouse gases are: CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) N2O (Nitrous Oxide) O3 (Ozone) CH4 (Methane) CFC (Chlorofluorocarbon) H2O (Water Vapor) A: There are four primary greenhouse gases. They are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorocarbons. There are others, but these are the ones of greatest concern.

What is released into the atmosphere when gas oil and coal are burned?

The main compounds released when burning gas and oil, are water vapor, carbon dioxide/CO2, methane, and nitrous oxide. These compounds are contributing to the greenhouse effect and depletion of the ozone layer.

How is nitrous oxide used in everyday life?

Nitrous Oxide is used as laughing gas and for cars. Nitrous oxide, commonly known as happy gas or laughing gas, is a chemical compound with the chemical formula N2O. At room temperature, it is a colorless non-flammable gas, with a pleasant, slightly sweet odor and taste. It is used in surgery and dentistry for its anesthetic and analgesic effects. It is known as "laughing gas" due to the euphoric effects of inhaling it, a property that has led to its recreational use as a dissociative drug. It is also used as an oxidizer in rocketry and in motor racing to increase the power output of engines. At elevated temperatures, nitrous oxide is a powerful oxidizer similar to molecular oxygen. For example, nitrous oxide in a test tube will re-ignite a smoldering splint.Nitrous oxide reacts with ozone and is the main naturally occurring regulator of stratospheric ozone. Nitrous oxide is also a major greenhouse gas and air pollutant. Considered over a 100 year period, it has 298 times more impact per unit weight than carbon dioxide. (source wikipedia)Nitrous oxide is an anesthetic, used primarily in dentistry, and is also used in some foamed food such as fake whipped cream.

Which chemical compound seems to be the MOST responsible for global warming?

Carbon Dioxide is the main cause, but other effectors include nitrous oxide and methane.

What is Different gas that affect global warming?

The main gases which affects global warming are: 1.Carbon-di-oxide2.Methane3.Nitrous oxide

Which of these gases contribute to global warming?

Main gases contributing to global warming are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and water vapor

Can n2o be dangerous and cause death?

Nitrous oxide gives rise to NO on reaction with oxygen atoms, and this NO in turn reacts with ozone. As a result, it is the main naturally occurring regulator of stratospheric ozone. It is also a major greenhouse gas and air pollutant. Considered over a 100 year period, it has 298 times more impact per unit weight than carbon dioxide.Nitrous oxide is a greenhouse gas, accounting for around 6% of the heating effect of greenhouse gases in the atmosphereIt is neurotoxic and analgesic and antinociceptive

Which gases cause pollution?

If you mean atmospheric pollution from burning hydrocarbon fuels, the main ones are Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide and Sulphur Dioxide. All fuels produce CO2 and water-vapour. Nitrous Oxide is a by-product in petrol- and diesel- engine exhaust. The SO2 comes mainly from sulphur-rich coal; but the amount varies a lot with the quality of the coal used.
