I think the most accurate antonym for acceleration is deceleration.
Retardation or deceleration is negative accelaration formula for finding retardation is same as that of accelaration: v-u/t, where v is the final velocity, u is the initial velocity and t is the time taken. eg- a bus is travelling at 20 m/s. Brakes are applied to stop the bus. The total time taken by the bus to stop is 2 s. Find its retardation. ans- v=0; u=20; t=2 accelaration= 0-20/2 a= -10 m's^2 retardation= 10 m/s^2 (because retardation is negative accelaration)
decelration
In physics, retardation refers to a decrease in the speed of an object. This can occur due to forces like friction, air resistance, or gravity acting in the opposite direction to the object's motion, causing it to slow down. Retardation is the opposite of acceleration, where an object's speed increases.
Retardation is the opposite of acceleration. It starts from a non zero uniform velocity. For this to happen any velocity (not zero) of a vehicle should go on decreasing. The rate of decreasing may be anything. If it is decreasing then that is retardation.
Retardation or deceleration is negative acceleration. It is opposite to the direction of velocity.
"Deceleration" is a decrease in speed, however you are still going in the SAME direction so it is POSITIVE. "Retardation" is going in the OPPOSITE direction, therefore it is NEGATIVE.
Retardation means deceleration or the negativity to speed. It's synonyms Disintegrate, Prejudice, Destruct etc. The formula of retardation is V - U/ T where V is the final position U is the initial motion and T is the time taken by object.
Pseudo-retardation would be something that resembles or looks like retardation, but actually isn't. The term literally means, fake retardation.
it changes the speed
No a dimple is not a sign of retardation.
When the net force on a body is in the opposite direction to the motion of the body the speed of the body will never increase rather retardation will take place and the body will lose its speed.
Retardation = change in vel / time taken
