Can you feed a dog white rice?

You can not feed a dog rice daily. Although say you ran out of dog food, then you would fry some beef(add no flavor or spice) and mix it in with some cooked rice. Stir it up and let your pet enjoy. By mixing these to together they get a source of protein until they getmore dog food. Only fill the bowl about 3/4 full depending on your dog type.

my vet just told me to give it to my German Shepherd temporarily (he has diarrhea). She said it won't make it to the colon and will give his inflammed colon a break. We may not see a stool for a few days, and that's okay....The girl at the kennel says she thinks it acts like Pepto and constipates them.

True, but there is not much nourishment in rice, so never keep a dog on a pure rice diet. If your dog is sick in his stomach, rice with some cooked hamburger is a good diet for a week or so. Also, rice is a common ingredient in a number of good dog foods.

While rice is good for dogs, white rice is a processed and bleached grain. So as far at that goes it won't kill them, but brown rice is much better for them.
