Ethanol and methanol are polar solvents (like water), and so they CAN dissolve many salts. While the carbon chain is nonpolar, the hydroxide chains are polar. Only the alcohols with carbon chains longer than 7 are immiscible.

Table salt (NaCl) will dissolve in ethanol, though not as well as in water.

Only in water mixtures such as "rubbing alcohol". Salt (sodium chloride) is not soluble in alcohol, but is soluble in water. Nearly all "rubbing alcohol" contains water.

To prove this for yourself, pour a small bowl of rubbing alcohol, then add a teaspoon of salt. It will mostly remain at the bottom of the bowl. Now add water to the bowl, forming a miscible mixture of water and alcohol. After enough water is added, the salt will eventually go into solution in the mixture.

because of the low polarity of alcohol compared to water and also because the dissociation energy.

If the bonds between solvent or solute are too strong and there is not enough

energy provided while dissolving to break them, the solute will not dissolve.

No. Table salt (NaCl) will not dissolve in alcohol. It will, however, slightly dissolve in "rubbing alcohol" (which contains water) and many Alcoholic Beverages that are mostly water.

Does salt dissolve in alcohol?

Alcohol is a non-polar solvent and does not dissolve salt as well as water does. If there is water in the alcohol then some of it will dissolve.

Salt (sodium chloride) is not soluble in alcohol, but is soluble in water. Nearly all "rubbing alcohol" contains some water, and so will slightly dissolve salt.

As much table salt as you can stir in the boiling water until no more salt will dissolve. You will see salt dissolve once you stir some table salt in the boiling water, hot tap water is unsufficient.

Does alcohol dissolve salt better than water?

Partially. Rubbing alcohol is diluted with water, and it's actually the water in which the salt dissolves. Salt is nearly insoluble in alcohol.
