If you don't have a prescription, yes, if you have a prescription than no, because it's a medicine It is illegal. You are breaking the law to use it, therefore sinning. There is nowhere in The Bible that Marijuana is spoken of, but God did want us to keep our bodies healthy and pure. Even in Jesus' day tobacco of sorts was smoked and scents (giving a feeling of euphoria) were accepted. This does not mean that Marijuana is good for you! There is in the New Testament, a passage that tells the followers of Jesus Christ to be sober minded. As a man who has smoked several square miles of Columbian in my younger days I can say without a doubt that smoking pot does not keep one sober minded. When you smoke pot on a regular basis, your thinking becomes warped, not sober minded. There is also the passage about following the laws of man, therefore, by breaking the law you are commiting a sin unto God. Galatians 5:19-21 refers to practices that cannot be part of those who will inherit the kingdom of God. One of these includes "witchcraft." We 21st century Americans think in terms of turning people into toads, or perhaps certain pagan rites. The Greek word translated "witchcraft" here, though, is "pharmacia", from which we get the word "pharmacy." Witchcraft in those days would also include mind-altering drug usage, which would include most, if not all, non-medicinal marijuana usage today. Those who have a relationship with Christ, though, shouldn't need "weed"

It depends. If you think smoking is wrong then, for you, it is a sin. If you use it to "escape" life or if it turns into a habit that negatively affects your personal relationship with God and/or others then it would be a sin. If you smoke occasionally, take care of your responsibilities, and most important of all continue to grow in the Lord then it is not a sin. This is my personal opinion.

According to Genesis 1:29, God has given humankind permission to consume every plant and every fruit that produces seed.

New American Standard Bible (©1995)

Then God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;

Bible in Basic English

And God said, See, I have given you every plant producing seed, on the face of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit producing seed: they will be for your food:

World English Bible

God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.

From this scripture, one could reasonably deduce that cannabis was created for our use by way of ingestion. Marijuana is not specifically mentioned, nor is the inhalation of smoke for recreation. Since it is not specifically mentioned, technically it is not a sin. There is room for debate over whether using a substance that is in violation of the laws of man would qualify as a sin based on the admonition given in 1Peter 2:13.

New American Standard Bible (©1995)

Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority,

Bible in Basic English

Keep all the laws of men because of the Lord; those of the king, who is over all,

World English Bible

Therefore subject yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether to the king, as supreme;

There is not a completely clear-cut answer for this. Again, it depends on whether or not one is talking about one particular god/faith system or another. Some would say "yes" but others that there is a place for it. In the case of the Judeo-Christian ideology in essence, the Bible is (not surprisingly) silent on drugs in particular. It is not unreasonable to look at it this way: God made what is on the Earth, and there are places for many different things at different times. However, the God of the Bible seems rather clearly set against allowing oneself to be dominated by a particular desire or by something which impairs judgement. For example: Ephesians 5:18 where the author warns against becoming "drunk with wine" because it leads to debauchery but that it is instead better to be "filled with the Spirit (of God)" (the words in parentheses are my addition). Also, in 1st Peter 1:13 , 5:8 and 4:7, the author admonishes his readers to remain in a sober state of mind so that they might pray with clarity and also not be deceived or confused. Also, because medical marijuana is "legal" but often exploited bny those who do NOT have legal government permission to use it, one might examine Romans 13:1 which urges that people "be subject to governing authorites" (obey the law). On the other side of this, there is the advice of Paul (an older and well respected Christian authority and leader) to his younger friend Timothy (to whom Paul was something like a mentor) that Timothy should have "a little wine" because Timothy had frequent illnesses and the wine might soothe his stomach. In conclusion, it is not outlandish to propose that, while God might not object to a substance being used for health purposes, that it is not the substance itself which is somehow "evil" or a "problem" but more likely that most individuals will not exert the willpower to stop using it if it impairs their judgement, takes up too much of their time and money or breaks laws and causes otherindividuals to follow the example of using it in a bad way. This is more likely what the Judeo-Christian God might object to.
