If you want to use one word for both, then you can call them each a fluid.
We normally distinguish three states of matter; solid, liquid and gas. (Sometimes this gets expanded to include plasma or other esoteric forms of matter, but that is not the topic here.)
The term liquid usually means "a non-gaseous substance which takes the shape of its container."
But, a gas is usually distinguished from a liquid by the fact that it does not form droplets. That needs some explanation.
If you create a liquid in a confined space, it will be a self bound object. It will basically form a droplet and there will be some of the gaseous form of the fluid in the space around it. In effect, this definition says that you can define a liquid as the phase that forms from the gas when it is cooled or put under pressure. (It is possible for a gas to form a solid, but that is easy to distinguish from a liquid.)
A solid is a material that can maintain its shape and supports stress.
This answer omits the discussion of odd situations such as viscoelasticity.
