In small quantities, styptic powder is not toxic to dogs. It is commonly used to prevent bleeding when a dog's nail is trimmed too short. Check with your vet if your pet consumes more than the amount used to treat a small injury, particularly if the animal weighs under 20 pounds or has stomach ulcers. Styptic powder does include sulfur, so keep it out of the reach of children.
Simply buy some styptic powder and small reptile/bird nail clippers. Keep the styptic powder close by with a dampened Q-tip. Hold the Quaker in a towel to keep it from biting (this is best done with another person holding the parrot). Carefully snip off small sections of nail at a time, check for bleeding, and use the styptic powder to stop bleeding if necessary.

Yes it is bad for the immune system but also you can take it as advantage if you want your dog to keep away from some stuff by using chilli powder repellent. Capsaicin, the chemical that puts the spice in chili peppers, is irritating to a dog's sensitive nose. Because of this, most dogs will avoid anything that smells like a chili pepper. You can rub or sprinkle cayenne powder and dried chili powder directly on objects and areas where dogs are unwanted. You can also mix it with water for a spray solution that will repel dogs.
