The AV or atrioventricular valves are the valves which separate the upper chambers (the atria) from the lower chambers (ventricles) of the heart.
The AV valve on the left side of the heart is known as the left atrioventricular (AV) valve or the mitral valve.
The AV valve on the right side of the heart is known as the right atrioventricular (AV) valve or the tricuspid valve.
