This is an interference engine and if the belt breaks you will more than likely have internal engine damage. Replace the belt every 105,000 miles or every 10 years whichever comes first.
Provided the belt does not break, yes it will be safe....but if the belt breaks, then you will ruin your engine.
100k to keep on the safe side of things.
The 2000 Toyota Camry four-cylinder is not an interfere engine. However you should replace the timing belt every 90,000 miles in order to not be stranded when it breaks.
From what I've seen on the web and in my Haynes manual (I do Own a 95 Contour, 4-banger) The Zetec engine is a non-interference engine. Meaning you won't wreck the engine's head if the timing belt goes... But, just to be on the safe side, have it replaced. When they had to do my water pump (driven by the timing belt), I had them change the belt, along with the tensioner pulley, just to be on the safe side.
You change the timing belt at 100,000 km. you can do it at 90,000 just to be on the safe side. If it breaks you can bend your valves
Honda recommends replacing this belt at 105,000 miles on both the SOHC & DOHC engines. The timing belt also drives the water pump on this engine. To save yourself money down the road, replace the water pump when you replace the timing belt. Remember this is an INTERFERANCE engine, and serious engine damage will occur if the belt breaks. I would replace the belt at 100,000 or 10 years, whichever comes first. Better safe than sorry.
No.
If you have 100,000 miles or more it is time to change it or get it checked by a mechanic. I have a Mazda protege 2000 and it is on the left side of the engine by my belts. I had a leak near there and the mechanic took off the cap and my belt needed replacement. If your belt breaks on you it could damage your engine and cost more in the long run. Be safe and get it checked out. there is no way of telling but by looking at it
Its a safe engine so no damage will be done..just fit another belt and tensioner and away you go.. This is a non interference engine so if the timing belt snaps, the only damage is the belt itself. This means that you can fit a new belt, time the engine and continue
supposed to be 105,000 miles i would do it at like 90,000 to be safe, because it is an interference engine and if the belt brakes you will need a new engine.
