The GCF or Greatest Common Factor is the greatest number that divides into both the numbers without remainders. It is at most the smaller of the numbers.

2 does not go into 7 at all.

However, 7 divides 7 (once) and 14 (twice), so 7 is the GCF of 7 and 14.
