I would say that the climax is most often near the end of the book but rarely at the very end. The end is usually the site of the epilogue. Now in literature anything is possible, and the writer can put the climax anywhere he likes. But traditionally and perhaps sensibly the climax in near the end.
The climax of a book means :the most exciting part, so I would suggest when the main characters conflict is resolved in the resolution ( the end ) it's gets exciting and interesting . BTW read "Things Not Seen" by Andrew Clemments it's amazing!
