That depends if you are talking about the current generation of parents or of children. In my 30 something generation, I have seen a good deal of my fellow parents falling down on the job. It is too much trouble to properly discipline, so they just turn a blind eye or take the path of least resistance. They want their kids to have more then they did, but they don't want to take the time or trouble of having the child earn it. Things are just handed to them. A generation is not born one way or another. They are shaped into what they are. On the other hand, there are still plenty of good parents and children out there. It is generally not looked well upon to put one type of people into a group and judge them all the same. If you are not careful, it quickly becomes discrimination.

I say for the most part, yes.
