In my opinion, public school is better because you learn social skills, and how to deal with every day situations.

I believe above was written by someone who has never experienced being homeschooled.
As a Freshman in HS, I have experienced both.
"You learn social skills". I have many homeschooled friends that are "socialized" just as well if not better than public schoolers. Fun to talk to, insanely nice, smart, perfect hair, make up etc.
"Deal with every day situations". Like what? I never learned any.
Some reasons to homeschool I just thought up. :)
If you want:
1. a better education
2. 1 on 1 time with your teacher
3. to go at your own pace
4. to actually remember what you learned 3 days earlier
5. to not have to sit in a desk for 8 hours (I do my school on my bed)
6. enjoy reading
7. to not have homework
8. have a good sense of responsibility.
9. no busy work (word searches)
10. Learning is more efficient. (After using a calculator 90% of the time for a year I can still do large problems on paper. While lost of public schoolers cant to 6x7 without one.)
11. flexible scheduling. I have home-schooled ice skating at 12:00 every Wednesday while public schoolers are sitting in a desk.
12. Higher standards. (see below)
In the first few weeks as an 8th grader in public school, I took a capitalization test in an "average" English class. Out of 26 students, 2 got 90%+. How beyond pathetic is that. Thats average. Capitalization is so basic.
NOTE: Not all homeschoolers do things the same way. Some homeschoolers social lives consist of the library and grocery store.

As a former public school student and a current homeschooler, I can very well say that both have their pros-and-cons. In my opinion, it all depends on the particular child. I'm not sure as to whether you're a student or parent, so keep in mind, while I try to answer your question.
There are many misconceived stereotypes about homeschooling, mainly with public schoolers. I've heard people say that homeschoolers are "anti-social" and that homeschooling is "child abuse", and so forth. Well, let me tell you, those claims are false. Homeschooling has many advantages. For one, you might have more time to spend with family and you can work at your own steady pace, without being interrupted or having the teacher get impatient with you for not following what she's saying. Believe me, I've gone through many situations where I felt like the victim because I asked a question of the teacher. Also, if you're the kind of person who likes to sleep in without being rushed to start school, then homeschooling might be for you. The education, depending on how willing you or your teacher (parent or student) is to teach, you might get a better education. You might also want to look into online schools, if you want to have your child be a little more independent and not have to teach them the whole day through.
As for public schools, I agree that you might get more exercise, but if you're a homeschool parent, you should be willing to give your child the necessary fitness they need. Otherwise, you're completely defeating the purpose of homeschooling. Anyways, I do miss public school to an extent and, in some aspects, it's better, mainly socialization, but like I said, socialization is easy (homeschool or public school). Do not be afraid to ask a neighbor or child in the area to play or befriend. It's always nice to have at least a few friends to have around. Socialization skills are not entirely acquired from school, though most people think that.
Whatever you feel is best for you (child) or your child (parent), then by all means, go with it. Homeschooling and public schooling all really depends on the student and what their view is on each. Thank you and I hope this answer helped! :)
public school
umm...well u get a better education in public skools and private school...they may also develop poor social skills...
that would be called a private or umbrella school. There are thousands out there already...there are laws fees and requirements legally. Homeschool is home based education by the PARENT... not a school they go to.
talk to school administration
That depends on the individual situation.
I would personally say homeschool so they won't get bullied any more.
Yes, in every developed country, children between 5 and 16 must be in education, whether it be in a public school, a private school or even a homeschool session.
Possibly, yes.
No formal education is needed to home school in Michigan.
Depends on the teachers and students in public schools. Home school makes you learn math, science, and english online. It is free because you do not have pay money for public school field trips.
I homeschool and it works great! You can learn any subject just as well as in a public school.
Yup! For almost any college or organization, a homeschool high school diploma is just as good as one from a public or private school.
