Herobrine is Markus Persson's (Notch's) dead brother. Supposedly, one of the creators put him into the game, but he screwed up the code and it became hostile.
However, Herobrine is just a creepypasta, and nothing in the game's code supports his existence. Notch himself said that he never had a brother named Herobrine.

β 10y agoI would say maybe because I have met Herobrine on pc but not on pocket edition. Though I have seen videos of him haunting on pe I do believe he is real just I cant say that I am 100 percent sure
