Probably not, a 2001 Windstar usually has hydraulic lifters that never need adjusting it could be a bad valve spring, or a bad lifter that will need to be replaced.
Squeaky brakes, sticky lifters engine knocking . Please be a little more specific.
the lifters may need adjusting or replacing. your engine not getting enough oil causes the lifters to make noise. not sure what motor you have in it but if it's an engine where you can tighten the lifters then you can buy a tool for it if you know what your doing
All engines in a 2001 Lumina use hydraulic lifters. These lifters are self adjusting. Lifter related valvetrain noise is most commonly caused by failure to replace the lifters after destroying them by excessive driving with water-contaminated oil.
knocking noise
are you sure the noise is coming from the transmission. most cars will make a knocking sound due to the lifters being a little stuck. to see if it is a lifter noise, at the net oil change use a qt of lucas oils. there will be one that says something about lifter noises on the front, found at any parts store
NO. A knocking noise in the engine is a problem in the engine.
I get knocking & ping noise coming from the fuel injectors
A bad harmonic balancer can cause a knocking noise. The harmonic balancer doesn't actually produce the noise, but it can cause the noise in the engine.
a "knocking" noise could be your lifters. and the ticking when accelerating and letting out of the gas is the same thing. check your oil and if it's full then you may need to think about either having them adjusted, or getting new ones. depending on what you have depends on whether or not you wanna sell it
When your engine has a knocking noise, it could mean that a rod has been thrown. It could also mean you are low on oil.
how do you ajust the lifters on a Chevy s 10. its making a taping noise
Vague question.. If you are asking about self adjusting valve lifters, here you go. Lifters that are wearing will begin emitting a slight ticking noise with the engine running.. Somewhat louder when cold, then lessening as the engine warms up due to the expension of the metal parts. When the lifters are extremely worn, a loud "clacking" noise can be heard with the engine running.. In most cases the lifter internal oil check valve is either dirty or worn.. In some instances, the bottom of the lifters can become concave with high mileage engines which also indicates a worn out camshaft.
