The length of the shoe would be measured in millimetres. The international standard (ISO 9407) calls for a system of sizing known as Mondopoint, this quotes both the mean length and width of the foot the shoe is designed to fit. A shoe with the stated size of 270/100 would be for a foot with a mean length of 270 mm and a width of 100 mm.
