Each state has two senators regardless of its population. It's each state's number of seats in the House of Representatives that is determined by population, though each state must be granted at minimum one seat.

Every state has 2 senators in the U.S. Senate. The number of representatives a state has in the U.S. House of Representatives is based on the population in each state. Every 10 years the U.S. Census Bureau takes a census of the population in each state. The 435 representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives is then reapportioned among the 50 states based on the population in each state. The current representation in the U.S. House of Representatives is based on the results of the 2010 Census. The U.S. Census Bureau will take a census of the population in each state again in 2020. Based on the results of the 2020 census, the number of representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives will then be reapportioned among the 50 states based on the population in each state.
