Great question! The answer is yes. You can see Andromeda and the Magellanic clouds, but no stars in other galaxies.

The solar system in which we live is in fact in the Milky Way GALAXY. But, I guess "Milky Way" and the "Milky Way Galaxy" are terms used interchangeably.

Slightly confusing is the fact that the "Milky Way" also refers to the faint band of light in the night sky, containing billions of stars, which is just a part of the whole Milky Way Galaxy.

No. Neither are. The vast, vast majority of individual stars in the night sky are relatively local stars in our galaxy and are not in our solar system. The milky way comprises what we can see of the rest of our galaxy. Notable exceptions are the planets which are in our own solar system. These are not "stars" though they are sometimes loosely called as such. Other galaxies are very difficult to spot without proper equipment.
