False. Prions and viroids are the smallest infectious agents. Prions are infectious protein particles, and viroids are infectious strands of RNA. Viroids differ from viruses in that they are ONLY a strand of RNA. Viruses have a protein coat protecting the nucleic acid molecule and some even have a lipid layer over that.
