Is the word hell a curse word?

Kind of but its not that of a bad word. What I mean by kind of is it sort of depends on your religion, you know, if you're Catholic or something, saying the word hell would be against your religion.

Well, no, not really. But 'Jesus!' or 'Jesus Christ!' can be used as an exclamation of surprise, shock, annoyance, pain or other uses a bit like a swear word. This can offend some people, so it can sometimes be seen as a bad word. I remember being told off for yelling it when I stubbed my toe. It can offend some people.

Satan is one of the "names" of the great deceiver of this world; the "great Dragon": "...that old SERPENT, called the DEVIL, and SATAN, which deceiveth the whole world..." (Rev.12:9).

The "names" of people places and things [nouns] aren't normally regarded as "swear words." But in certain cases names can be regarded as such, depending upon the "spirit" [or 'attitude'] whereby they are uttered.

Truth be known... God's name is regarded more as a "swear word" than Satan's. Our Creator's Fourth Commandment DEMANDS that His creation regard His name as UTTERLY SACRED and HOLY, and not to be uttered in any way other than the highest RESPECT, AWE and REVERENCE. Indeed:

"...REVEREND IS HIS NAME." (Ps.111:9)

You seldom [if ever] hear anyone mindlessly utter Satan's name as an expression of frustration or exasperation as you do the LORD's Sacred Name.

Satan's name is NOT SACRED, or to be REVERED -- GOD'S NAME IS. God reveals in His Law that He is [or should be] NUMBER ONE in the hearts and minds of ALL OF MANKIND as the most sacred name in the universe. Not my name, your name, or Satan's name.

"Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." (Ex.20:3)

That's God number one rule... HE'S FIRST in our thoughts, in our lives, and in our actions. That's how sacred He and HIS NAME is.

But because the two people Gpd created chose "another god" to "worship and obey" shortly after their creation and gave their sovereignty over the earth to SATAN... a drastic turn occurred on earth that was passed on to all the future generations of their children, regarding man's utter disregard for his Creator's Commandments. To the "god of this world" the first man and woman on earth handed over all the future societies and governments of the earth:

"...'I will give you the glory of these kingdoms [all the governments on earth] and authority over them - because THEY ARE MINE TO GIVE TO ANYONE I PLEASE." (Luke 4:6)

But thanks to Satan, mankind's collective spirit slumbers; blinded and deceived to the Truth of his Creator's revealed Word, The Bible.

Neither God's nor Satan's nor any other name in this world is a "swear word": unless it is uttered in a "spiritually negative" manner [in an attitude of thoughtless frustration, exasperation or apathy]. And I can think of no "swear word" on earth utilized in this manner with any kind of regularity other than the Sacred and Holy Name of our Creator -- not Satan's.

Well, if you're talking about hell then it isn't but if you say something like "What the hell" then it's considered a curse.
